Summary

Ten tassie gems made of glass paste and framed with gilt layers of paper; each with a bust of a figure as follows: 1) Bust facing to the right, a man in late 18th century costume and coiffure. 2) Bust facing left, a young woman in late 18th century costume and coiffure. 3) Facing right, mature woman with late 18th century coiffure. 4) Facing right, a Greek man with a beard (perhaps Plato or Socrates?). 5) Facing left, a woman in a Hellenistic headdress. 6) Facing right young Roman boy (aged about 10 years old). 7) Facing right, portrait of a man with early 19th century hairstyle, with a Greek inscription, that translates "For Pichler Made Me". 8) Facing left, portrait of a young man with early 19th century hairstyle, incribed "Burch". 9) Facing left, portrait of a young boy with early 19th century hairstyle. 10) Facing left, portrait of an elderly man with an early 19th century hairstyle, with sardonyx effect.
