Summary
Public: An oblong box with straight sides, plain mount and a hinged lid, enamelled on silver and painted on the lid with a lady and gentleman playing musical instruments and around the sides are fishing and pastoral scenes. All scenes are within gilt scroll borders on a green ground decorated with scrolls in gold and trellis and dot pattern. Private: An oblong box with straight sides, plain mount and a hinged lid. Enamelled on silver and painted on the lid with a lady and gentleman in costume of about 1740, the former seated playing a harpsichord and holding a music book from which the latter, who stands beside her, is playing a violin. Around the sides are four panels of fishing a pastoral scenes. All scenes are enclosed in gilt scroll borders on a green ground decorated with scrolls in gold and trellis pattern, dots and circles in white.
