Summary

A pointed oval shaped box with a plain brass mount and a hinged lid with a mirror inside. Enamel on metal and painted in colours on the lid with a roundel with a portrait of a young man in profile looking up and wearing a lace collar, on a light blue background inscribed on each side with 'Young Roscius', surrounded in a gold and raised white dot border. The rest of the lid is decorated in a fish-scale pattern in gold on a white ground surrounded by a white dot border. The body of the box is dark blue.
