Summary

An oval box with concave sides and a hinged lid within a plain brass mount. Enamel on metal and painted in colours on the lid with an image within a roundel on a white ground of a young man weeping beside a pyramidal monument, inscribed 'Weep not for ME' and bordered by thin brown and black bands on a blue ground. The sides of the box are blue. Inside the lid is painted with three ships on the sea and inscribed above with 'HOPE', whilst in front of this is a piece of clear glass painted with a female figure carrying an anchor over her shoulder.
