Summary
Collection card of 3 brass, silver plated, moulded, circular buttons from The Bullingdon Club and The Hurlingham Club. Loop shanks The Bullingdon Club Founded in 1850 as a dining club for wealthy students mainly from Christ Church College, Oxford. Four dinners a year are held when members wear a dark blue tailcoat with white silk facing and black velvet collar together with a yellow waistcoat. There are three buttons on each side of the tailcoat to the front plus two above the vent on the back. The Club has 24 members who must be nominated. The Hurlingham Club is a prestigeous sports and social club founded in 1869 as a pigeon shooting club, which was discontinued in 1905. Based at Ranelagh Gardens, Fulham, London it then became the headquarters of Polo from 1874 to 1939. Now well known venue for pre Wimbledon Tennis and headquarters of The Croquet Association since 1959.
