Summary

Tall cylindrical mug, thrown and turned with two relief bands of narrow horizontal grooved ribbing around foot and below neck. Neck band then impressed with a border of alternating crosses and circles, foot band with vertical lines giving a checked pattern. Applied strap loop handle with small flattened upward scroll to lower terminal. Decorated with a lead glaze flecked with manganese to give a mottled and streaky brown effect over yellow buff body.
