Summary

Orange red silk with woven pattern in gilt thread, gilt lace and gilt embroidered chiffon. Gold ribbon shoulder straps. Lower half of front draped to right side, open from low waist to hem. Top of chiffon over gilt lace and white chiffon. Alterations made - Small chiffon bodice with sleeves to wear beneath made from original added drapery. Labelled 'modele depose, Ch Drecoll.'; purchased at Kendal Milne and Co. Christopher Drecoll founded a couture house in Vienna, and his designer opened the Paris house in 1905. Making elaborate and expensive creations, the house closed in 1929.
