Summary

This is a landscape with architectural ruins and an army camp. In the background there is a mountainous outcrop of rock with ancient ruined buildings at the top. There is an obelisk, and an army encampment with tents and soldiers in drill formation, at midground left below the outcrop. Figures are grouped to the right of a wall fountain at the left foreground with jars and small vessels surrounding the fountain. A town can be seen to the right midground with an arched bridge over an expanse of water. There are trees to the right of the fountain.
