May Morning II

Gwendolen Raverat 1885 - 1957

Summary

There are two figures, a man and a woman, walking along a pathway that is bordered by a wall on either side and surrounded by rolling hills and fields. The path leads towards the top left hand corner and the horizon of the landscape. The sky is clear apart from a few clouds and the light means that the figures cast shadows across to the left. The figures, though appearing to follow the path, seem to have stopped. The man has his back to the viewer and is standing upon the wall with his arms held up expressively and the woman seems to have turned around to face the man, and the viewer, and she also has her arms stretched out expressively. private: mounted with 1928.373a
