pattern book
Summary
Pattern book of Lancashire printed wools (delaines) , in imitation of French fabrics, dated 1845. Each sample has succint notes by the dyer explaining how the dye colour effects were produced, and was probably produced by a dye chemist for a large textile firm. The wool delaines in the sample are very like fabrics made up into dresses in the Gallery's collection. The back has a selection of French printed wools obviously used as inspiration by the English-dyer.
