Summary

Oval sauce boat with curved base on stepped spreading oval foot. Fine slip-cast body with shaped undulating rim and deep projecting lip, applied ribbed strap loop handle with pinched and flattened spur at lower terminal. Sides of sauce boat decorated in relief with three panels of elaborate scrolls and pecten shells, separated by narrow panels of diamond ground, underside of lip decorated with two overlapping shells. Three semi-circular panels of diamond ground around rim, one at handle terminal, two along sides. Fine cast white body, greenish tinge to glaze where heavy around handle. Fine white slip-cast body with some discolouration around base and at edge of lip.
