Summary

Public: Deep circular bowl with straight sides curving in toward base on a stepped footring. White, salt-glazed stoneware decorated in relief with ten vertical panels of creatures and figures. Private: Deep circular bowl with straight sides curving in toward base, on spreading stepped footring. Body relief-moulded with ten vertical panels of fantastic creatures and naked figures. Panels comprise, from left to right; crowned double-headed eagle above fruit basket; coat of arms bearing lion rampant, above naked figure leaning forward with smaller figure to left, two winged cherubs with a crown below; reclining naked woman, above gryphon carrying dead bird, two cherubs flanking heart below; profile head within medallion, above winged harpie holding wreath over the head of a child standing beneath bird in tree, indistinct scene below; coat of arms bearing three fleurs-de-lys, above man blowing trumpet, plant in a pot below; two stork with narrow-neck jar (scene from Aesop's Fables?), above figure astride a lion, nesting swan below; two farmers(?) reaping, above unicorn, above fish; huntsman with two hounds, beneath bird in a tree, basket below; stag and bird amongst plants, beneath rabbit in top left corner; three figures drinking around a table, large kettle on stove below.
