Summary

Public: Shaped oval sauce boat, brown and white agate earthenware, with relief decoration of flowering plants and dolphins. Private: Oval sauce boat with curved base on lobed spreading foot, shaped undulating rim and covered spout at each end in the form of a dolphin's mouth. Slip-cast relief decoration beneath each spout, of dolphin's body with tail swept round to the left, sides decorated with circular and shaped panels containing simple flowering stems. Finely marbled white and brown earthenware body, marbled clays laid in broad vertical and horizontal strips giving irregular streaked patterns. Brown has bled slightly into the glaze to give overall warm honey tone.
