Summary

Public: Pear-shaped milk jug, red lead-glazed earthenware, with white slip-dipped rim and applied stamped relief decoration of flowerbaskets and leaves. Private: Pear-shaped milk jug on spreading foot, tapering to tall cylindrical neck with sparrow beak lip. Strap loop handle with plain cut lower terminal. Applied stamped relief decoration in white around belly beneath lip, comprising basket of flowers flanked by rosette to right and large leaf to left, three leafy sprigs above. Narrow slip-dipped white band to neck and lip, white slip spot to handle at thumbrest. Deep red earthenware body with glossy lead glaze.
