Summary

Tall square press-moulded tea caddy, with canted corners, slight rounded shoulder and narrow cylindrical neck. Sides decorated with recessed relief-moulded panels of figures against simple Greek key ground, comprising : Chinese woman holding flowering stem out of reach of small child standing to right; old Chinese man seated beneath tree to right, two birds perched in overhead branches; Chinese woman standing beside child to right, child reaching into large vase. Shoulder relief-moulded with borders of ogee arches. Cream coloured earthenware body, relief figures picked out in overglaze enamels, panel borders and edges painted red, green and blue, shoulder borders picked out in red. Replacement metal cover, cylindrical with domed top, decorated with Greek key border around sides, relief birds in trees across top, slender baluster finial in centre.
