Summary

Public: Pair of wall pockets, relief-moulded with Cupids representing Autumn and Winter. Plain cream coloured earthenware. Private: Two press-moulded wall pockets in the shape of a cornucopia, tapering from broad fan-shaped upper body to pointed tip. High relief-moulded decoration to each vase representing Autumn and Winter. Autumn comprises full length figure of Cupid drinking from a bottle held in right hand, left hand clasping fruit and foliage to his chest, his legs hidden behind quiver of arrows entwined with flowers and husk festoons. Tip of vase curves round to the right, moulded with palm leaf detail echoing acanthus border to everted rim above. Winter comprises full length figure of Cupid holding burning brazier aloft in both hands, legs hidden behind quiver of arrows entwined with flowers and husk festoons. Tip of vase curves round to the left, palm leaf detail echoing acanthus border to rim. Flat side on reverse of each vase, with shaped rim and two holes pierced at the top for suspension. Cream coloured earthenware body with yellowish glaze.
