Summary

Public: Watch stand in the form of a tree on a pedestal, flanked by two figures made of white earthenware with a pearlware glaze, coloured in overglaze enamels. Private: Watch stand in the form of a tree on tall rectangular pedestal with relief-moulded foliate ornament, on stepped rectangular plinth. Pedestal painted in soft pink enamel with brown and yellow details, plinth with red, black and blue veins simulating marble. Pedestal flanked by two figures, boy to right, naked but for green and black drape around his waist, girl to left, in pink, brown and green striped dress, both figures holding small floral sprays. Tree surmounting pedestal, with two arms of applied relief bocage flanking central circular pocket on narrow tree trunk. Pocket decorated with painted border of fruiting grapevines, interior painted yellow. Bocage decorated with small coloured flowers and two yellow birds, larger bird perched on feathery pink edged finial surmounting pocket. Finely crazed blue pearlware glaze. Misfired turquoise-green colour to leaves on tree trunk.
