Summary
Waistband of twilled ribbon, reinforced at back, fastening at centre front with metal buckle. Supporting curved structure made of 7 cloth covered metal strips held in place by tape, springs and side stays in cotton flap which laces inside curve to control shape. Manufacturer's stamped label : "'Langtry' bustle, an article for the million, Regd. no. 60056 by Royal Letters Patent No.6043. Made of fine wire strands and so arranged with spring as to fold up when sitting or lying down. This enables the wearer to lean back against the chair or safa, the bustle resuming its proper position immediately upon rising. The size can be altered by means of an adjustable cord to suit the wearer. It is light, cool, easy to wear, and never gets out of order, and is of the correct Parisian shape, and is the only bustle ever invented which will fit everybody and every dress.
