Summary

Child's dress or smock. Cream wool embroidered in pale blue silk. High round neck in double thickness straight shoulder yoke. Double straight collar in two parts, neck open for 5.1cm back and front, fastened with button and loop. Front and back each in one section closely gathered into 14cm panel held by lines of decorative stitching, leaving 7.6cm plain panel each side. Hem edges with three 0.6cm tucks, and line of stitching. Sleeves straight, gathered into shoulder and wrist and held with panel of smocking, square gusset under arms. Straight cuff edged with stitching and fastening with thread button. Side panels, yoke and collar embroidered in pattern of joined leaves in herringbone stitch.
