Summary
Child's dress. White linen, embroidered in white cotton. High round neck, pointed turn-down collar in two sections. Yoke of double thickness seamed at shoulders, open at CB, fastening with to mother-of-pearl buttons and worked buttonholes. Front and back each in one straight section with broad panel of smocking at centre extending to waist, two deep horizontal tucks above hem, slit opening down CB fastening four buttons and three buttonholes. Long sleeves in one straight section with gusset underarm, small gathered panels at shoulder and wrist, rectangular turnback cuff fastening button (missing) and buttonhole. Yoke embroidered with pairs of swirls, collar and cuffs edged with featherstitching. See also Man's Smock 1969.107
