Waddington, John Barton, Reverend - 1857

Summary

A view over the smoky industrial town of Manchester, seen from Kersal. There is a grassy hillside in the foreground to the left, on which two small girls gather flowers. A winding river flows along the right, on which three boys are rowing in the foreground. Manchester is visible in the distance beyond a wooded valley to the left. The town comprising a church to left, large mill buildings and rows of smoking chimneys, is disappearing into the distance.
