Summary

black velvet. Lined with black silk. High crown with domed top and sides sloping slightly inwards. Crown higher at front than back, black velvet band round base. Brim bound and faced with darker velvet, turned up at back and sides and down at front, wired round middle. Stiffened and wired section of darker velvet, bound and faced with hat velvet, pleated up at left end and pointed at right, caught to front of crown and extending round to side back, slightly higher than crown at centre front, covered with ostrich feathers with very shiny stalks, almost entirely stripped.
