Summary

Navy-blue twilled wool. Lined with black glazed twilled cotton, quilted. Round flat straight-sided crown with stiffened crescent-shaped peak in front, lined with green cotton and with rows of stitching parallel to outer edge; straight unlined section round bottom edge at sides and back, faced with black tape at edges with pointed bottom front corners forming lappets to tie with corded ribbon ties under chin, or else above peak when bottom section is folded to lie round outside of crown; label inside crown inscribed "73/8".
