Summary

Cream silk machine kntited in stocking stitch and openwork. Tops of double thickness, seamed down CB, shaped for leg, heel and toe, seamed underneath foot; openwork stripes worked in broad band across foot and extending up front leg to above ankle ending with border of stylised plant motifs; "M" and "I" woven in double tops with below a woven crown and "V.R." remnant of linen tape tie at top of each stocking.
