Summary
Petticoat or crinoline. Woven horsehair and cream silk. Front to knee level in two silk sections, flared towards sides, darts at waist, horsehair below in eight slightly flared sections held in place by elastic bands on wrong side; back in four flared sections, pleated to waist, fastening with cream silk ribbon drawstring, flared sections held in place by elastic bands on wrong sides at hip level, horsehair band and tape tie below, elastic band below that continuous with front elastic band; hem bound with cream velvet; printed label "BY ROYAL LETTERS PATENT / THE ELIZABETHAN PETTICOAT / No. 3665". This skirt is mentioned in the Evening Post, Volume XLV, Issue 129, 3 june 1893, page 1.
