Summary

Brown leather hat. Round crown in six segments, trimmed with plaited band of leather, wide flat brim with wire stiffening in outer edge, lined with machine stitched brown silk; marked with manufacturer's woven lable inside crown. Belonged to Heather Firbank (1888-1954), the daughter of the affluent MP, Sir Thomas Firbank. This garment came to the Gallery via the Victoria and Albert Museum, which has many others of her dresses.
