Summary

Two piece evening or dinner costume in pink silk, figured with delicate meandering cream floral motifs, and trimmed with cream moire ribbon, gathered fine cream silk and sead pearls. Waistband printed in black: 'The Misses Brierley, Costumiers, Cheadle Hulme'. Bodice; fronts each in 1 section, boned. Cream silk ruffles across front, fall over sleeves and around bodice back. Standing frill collar, pleated and trimmed with fine gathered cream silk with appliqued beadwork and pearls. Bodice back; each in 2 sections, boned. Fastens centre back to a high standing collar with 17 hooks and eyes. Bodice edge pleated with cream watered silk. Long watered silk ribbon for bow at centre back. Elbow length puffed sleeves; each in 2 sections, silk gathered in 2 places. Appliqued beadwork at sleeve edge with double pleated cream silk frill. Bodice lined with white cotton. Separate skirt; in 7 sections, fastens centre back with 2 hooks and eyes. Hidden pocket in right seam. Fine cream pleated silk trim above skirt edge, with beads and pearls along top edge of trim. Separate underskirt in pink satin stiffened at hem edge. Satin frill above hem.
