She has dark wavy hair worn in a chignon with a short curly fringe and she is wearing a black silk and wool dress with full sleeves gathered at the sleeve head and a black silk satin centre front panel with applied white lace and large decorative silver buttons. She wears a black silk satin pleated standing collar with large bows either side. Written on reverse in pen ' aged 23 years / 1895.'
