Royal Engineers' Dump

Albert Richards 1919 - 1945

Summary

In a tall forest, the 'dump' (or encampment) of the Royal Engineers regiment stretches into the distance. A truck and a jeep have come to a stop down the improvised forest road, apparently stuck in the mud. The driver and passenger try to steer the jeep out, whilst planes fly high over the concealed encampment. The wood of the trees, the structures and the camouflage netting are a mixture of darkened, icy greys and browns. A strip of orange sky is visible over the rich green canopy, and below, a brick patchwork of white snowy roofs covers the entire forest area.
