Summary

Deep rectangular baking dish, pink earthenware, with slip-trailed decoration of running bird and date in yellow against dark red slip-coated ground. Curving sides and notched rim. Upper surface coated with dark red slip, decorated with white slip-trailed pattern comprising running bird above date 1793, enclosed by parallel wavy bands beneath rim. Decoration probably carried out on flat clay slab before press-moulding. Plain unglazed rim edge and underside.
