Youth Advances

Sir Jacob Epstein 1880 - 1959

Summary

Full figure nude male, embodying youthful courage and resolution in his posture. The head is thrown back causing the neck to elongate, his shoulder-length hair is swept away from the face; both arms are rigidly held in front of the figure, his fists clenched; the left leg (his right) is striding forward, the right leg extends backwards and touches the base with only the toes - this is the point at which the entire weight of the work is supported. The base is circular.
