Summary
Bicorne in black beaverfur wool felt: black silk ribbon, round crown flattened from back to front with crease in top from side to side, wide shaped brim, wider at back than front, turned back at back and front, parallel with and extending above crown and secured with black silk ribbon tie, brim bound blackfigured silk ribbon, front edge towards left trimmed black glazed ribbon rosette, plaited black silk cord loop with black thread-covered button hanging below rosette, crown lined black glazed linen, with leather patch in front, inside crown stamped with lion and unicorn. Crown stamped "Stamp No, Hat Duty, value not exceeding 18 shillings; Jones, Hat Maker to her Majesty, Eton, Bucks" Possibly worn by Thomas Carill-Worsley, late in his life (d.1808).
