Summary

Back in one scetion, shorter fronts each in one section, fastening with four silk-covered buttons and concealed buttonholes to high neck with turn-down collar; inner front section the same length as the back and seamed to it down the sides; cut with armholes and fastening five sil-covered buttons and buttonholes; pocket each side. Worn by William Ewart Gladstone (1809-98) Prime Minister and donor's father-in-law. See also capes (1956.378-380).
