Summary
kid gloves with cuffs embroidered in silk and gold thread; seamed at outer hand, gussets between fingers with v-shaped sections at base, separate inset thumb section, 10 cm vent at outer edge of cuff, cuffs worked with broad (10cm) band of embroidery in gilt thread (worn) and tiny metal beads forming scrolls and leaf shapes and outlining three heartshaped applique motifs of crimson satin, bound and faced orangey-pink plain weave silk, cuffs and vent edged gilt fringe. From the Aldersey family who had lived at Aldersey village from the 13th century. Aldersey is in the parish of Coddington, near Farndon. The hall at which they lived was rebuilt 1804-5 and then demolished around 1950.
