Summary
Tailcoat of blue/green finely striped shot (changeant) silk; high fold-over collar, large self fabric covered buttons centre front, with 3 top functioning buttonholes, pockets to rear tails, unlined and lightweight other than a panel in the back chest which is lined in wool fleece for warmth. Probably French and very fashionable.See a very similar French coat at Colonial Williamsburg in Costume Close-Up by Linda Baumgarten & John Watson (1999) pp.92-6.
