Summary

An idyllic Italianate landscape: leafy trees against a blue sky are lit by golden evening sunlight. The setting sun is obscured by a cliff face to the left, which borders a path along which cattle are being led. In the foreground a goatherd sits on a sandy bank as his goats investigate the foliage. A wide river runs placidly behind, and beyond the far bank can be seen blue misty mountains.
