Summary

Public: Group of five dessert plates, white earthenware, with transfer-printed English landscape in underglaze cobalt blue. Private: Circular plate with wide deep well and curving rim, slightly wobbly at edges. Printed in underglaze blue with English landscape scene of Nuneham Courtenay house and gardens, showing river, hump-backed bridge and lock-keeper's thatched cottage to right. Nuneham Park house in the distance to left, tall tower to right. Two punts on river in front of bridge, one adrift with two people, one being tied to foreground bank by two men. Floral border to rim comprising wild roses and other flowers on soft blue background, continuous zigzag line round rim edge.
