Summary

double-breasted overcoat with three pairs of large brown buttons; collar with wide revers with buttonholes but no buttons at neck; lefthand side has slightly diagonal welted breast pocket; deep front pockets with flaps; coat back cut in two pieces, narrowing at waist, side seams set back; centre back vent is deep, with concealed buttons; sleeves fairly full, cut in two pieces and with extra fullness at the lower elbow; shoulders padded; cuff opening has three buttons; pockets lined with coffee coloured wool twill, breast pocket with brown cotton twill; body to the waist and sleeves lined with fawn twilled artificial silk satin; breast pockets inside lining each side; black japanned chain inside centre back neck; label, woven white on black, in neck "R.Gudgeon and Son, Stockport" Estbd. 1844"
