Summary

Dark grey felt trilby. Soft felt with raw edged brim, darker grey petersham ribbon tied in a bow at the side, interior glued-in rayon brown hat-band, printed in gold, Dunn & co Ltd, Piccadilly Circus, The Strand and Oxford Street, London/ The Polo/ Regd/ British Manufacture. Light brown hat leather with cream rayon bow, paper tag with 286 718 perforated initials E.B. Then printed in brown G.A.Dunn & Co Ltd, London, The Polo Regd. The hat was made by the donor's grandfather William Perry Gaskell of Stockport. He was a Hatter by trade and worked for Dunn's. It was probably made for himself. Worn by Mr Eric Baker, a Didsbury chemist.
