Epping Forest
Summary
Dense woodland area with a clearing in the foreground. The trees are painted with blue trunks and yellow leaves with shades of red in the background and foreground. Jacob Epstein worked in a shed in Epping Forest from 1924, later renting a cottage there in the 1930s. He was much inspired by the 'ancient atmosphere' and made many sketches of the forest changing with each season.
