Summary

Rural landscape scene of a wide country path with dense woodland to the right, steep fenced bank to the left, with open plains extending in the distance, in front of which a country squire on horseback is accompanied by a hound. The squire engages in conversation with a young farmhand who is accompanied by a cow and calf. Naturalistic colours are used, other notable features include the brightly illuminated sky.
