Summary

Linen partlet with collar attached, straight section shaped by twenty darts. Sewn on neck and slightly cut out at neck edge, straight lower edge, ends extending beyond neck band, seamed into rectangular pieces which extend inwards beyond seam, so that they lie flat in the form of a partlet beneath collar in front. Small eyelet hole and loop on each side at top: small darns at neck seams. See plate 43 in Patterns of Fashion 4, linen 1540-1660, Janet Arnold
