Summary

Public: Baluster vase, white earthenware, decorated with gothic inscription and curving vines in silver lustre and brushed lustrous green, on a deep cobalt blue glaze. Private: Baluster shaped vase tapering to narrow flared foot, with tall, wide, flared neck. Decorated with a deep cobalt blue glaze. Thick band round upper body below shoulder with inscription 'Festina Lente' in silver lustre gothic script against blue ground. On shoulder and neck above, and round body beneath, wavy silver lustre vines with leaves and coiling tendrils, against a brushed lustrous green wash. Dark cobalt blue band round foot. Upper surface of neck rim covered in plain silver lustre, gold and iridescent in appearance.
