Summary
Public: Small bowl, red earthenware, decorated with a winged fish and weeds in underglaze blue covered with an orange-yellow glaze and a transparent lustrous tin-glaze. Private: Deep circular bowl with straight sides curving into inverted foot. Appears to be painted in underglaze cobalt blue, with stylised feathery leaves on exterior, and a winged fish in well of interior, surrounded by swirling weeds and a wide border of large triangles pointing inwards from bowl rim. Then, decorated with an orange glaze, streaked with yellow on exterior, and turning a green-yellow colour on interior sides. The whole then given a transparent lustrous tin-glaze wash which has turned blue underglaze decoration on interior a silver lustre colour with a scratchy bubbled surface. Blue underglaze decoration on exterior remains smooth, with an iridescent sheen (see notes).
