Trendrine in Sun, Cornwall
Summary
Landscape painting of Trendrine in Cornwall depicting a central valley with steep hills either side. An almost fully abstract painting showing strong influence of the modern movement, as the scene appears heavily fragmented and the paintwork includes varied textures and strokes. The brushwork is thick and bold creating a patchwork of earthy brown and yellow tones. The viewer can discern a passage of movement where the valley descends towards the sea in the background of the picture, represented by a patch of blue in the top left-hand side of the picture. The valley is represented in a stark orange colour. This blocked in, bright colour suggests the illumination offered by the sun.
