Manchester Art Gallery

Volunteering for Wellbeing course

Wellbeing?

Volunteering is good for your wellbeing. Learning, giving time, being creative and connecting with others can all have a positive effect on our mental and physical health.

Manchester Art Gallery in partnership with Recovery Pathways, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS trust, have developed a 10 week course that introduces people to volunteering, to
different roles at Manchester Art Gallery and provides time and space to develop confidence and wellbeing.

Course leaders

The course is led by creative and mindfulness practitioner, Cathy Fortune from Recovery Pathways and the volunteer manager at Manchester Art Gallery, Meg Parnell.

During the course participants will learn about Manchester Art Gallery, our artworks and volunteering at our venue and other museums and galleries.

Improve your confidence

The programme uses mindfulness, wellbeing tools and creativity to build resilience, increase personal confidence, develop communication skills and improve wellbeing.

On completion of the course participants will have the opportunity to volunteer at Manchester Art Gallery or one of our partner heritage venues on a further 6 week placement.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to improve their health and wellbeing and feels that volunteering is something they could build into their life. We will consider applications from anyone in the Greater Manchester area who feels they may benefit from the programme.

Next course dates

The next course dates for 2020 will be published here once they’ve been finalised.
