Poster Poem (The Circus)

Ian Hamilton Finlay 1925 - 2006

Summary

A Concrete Poetry work but not about a circus in the expected sense. K47 refers to the number of an Orkney fishing boat known as a 'smack'. Finlay compares it to a pony leaping through a hoop as the boat passes under and above the curve of a rainbow and its reflection on the sea's surface. The green and red blinkers are port and starboard lights.
