Display Label

Self-Portrait probably 1780s Joseph Parry 1756-1826 Etching Self-confident in pose and expression, Parry here declares himself an artist, displaying the tools of his trade. The easel holds a ship picture, dating this work to his Liverpool days. The weak modelling of his brush-holding hand unwittingly reveals that he has further artistic developments to make.
