Summary

A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Domenico Ghirlandaio. The drawing is of the left side of a man's head, whose face is slightly turned towards the viewer. The drawing is on grey paper, and shading has been built up on and around the man's head. The man has a rather round face and short hair, and is wearing a headdress with folds of fabric hanging down at the back. Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society: "4. DOMENICO GHIRLANDAJO (b. 1449; d. 1494) HEAD OF A MAN Collection of the Duke of Devonshire, K.G., Chatsworth. Silver point on grey prepared paper heightened with white, 20.7 x 18.5 cm. (8 1/8 x 7 1/4 in.). A nobly characterized Florentine portrait head, possibly to be connected with the frescoes at S. Maria Novella. A. G. B. R. [S. A.
