The original drawing was in black chalk. Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society: "No. 17 LODOVICO CARRACCI (b. 1555, d. 1619) STUDY OF A MALE FIGURE, SEATED Collection of Mr. Edward Holland. Black chalk. 26 x 28.8 cm. (10 1/4 x 11 3/8 in.) An unusually fine and attractive example of the academic drawing in the Bolognese manner, attributed with probability to Lodovico Carracci."
